New shop on Redbubble

I agree I am late regarding all the postings I intended to do and I will try to catch up during the incoming holidays.
In the meantime, as you can see above, I have set up a shop on Redbubble so most of the artworks displayed here and which aren't part of any production projects can be turned into nice tees, mugs, artprints, laptop/phone case etc
There's still time to got them as gifts for this time of year celebrations if you wish :)

However if there a special piece you want to see available to print and which isn't yet in the shop or you just want to make a suggestion: don't hesitate to let a comment below...

Have fun and a wonderful time

Happy Halloween Everyone!

Just a quick speed painting in order to celebrate...
There could be more soon...
Some times ago I have seen this exercise of style: 'Disney animals into human shapes' and I wanted to try my hand at it. It still need a few more finishing touches but I think it will do for tonight as the title pun is horrible enough...
Have a great time everyone ;)

Sweety Plum _Casual Games

Here's a little something I've done for a casual game company test.
I sadly don't get the job because they were looking for another kind of graphic style re the game they were developing at that time but I was quite happy to learn that they appreciated my work anyway and the UI/assets I've designed.
So if any of you happen to be from a casual game company and on the look out for a 2D artist: rest assured that I've been quality testified by a big name ;)

I will post the UI, assets and screenshot in a next post.

Annecy 2014_ Here I come

This just to say I will be at the Annecy festival and Mifa this year with projects in my luggages and on the look out for opportunities...
See you there ;)

Here is a little sneak peek of what I bring with me:

Jamocha -CGI

So I have decided to investigate Sculptris a little further and at this effect I dug out one of my old character design that was intended for a CGI production anyway (Maya if you want to know). It took me far longer that it should have been mainly because I didn't realise in a first time that the details level was set at its lowest level and then some tools buttons (as angle fall off for ex) kept untick themselves at random times. The modelling logic isn't the same than the one you use with classic software such as Maya and it unsettled me as well but the goal was to learn and learning I did...
I have especially enjoyed the direct material, color and bump painting with some special brushes I've made in photoshop.

Torso Study- CGI sculpting

My first time forever using the sculpting tools of the ZBrush free ersatz Sculptris. I have started with the ball shape default settings. I am quite happy with the result: all the muscles & bones are accounted for, in the right place and with the right proportions. However I feel I was a little heavy handed with the neck and the side should have been better defined but I feared to overdue it at the time. Light, texture and rendering were processed in Blender.

Lucy in the sky with diamonds

Messing around with colours. I was trying to focus on colours, light and atmosphere in a painter's way instead of my usual sketch/design approach. I am somewhat rusty. I wasn't expecting the sky going so Turner like in the bottom right corner. The girl's name isn't Lucy by the way.

The Board's Members- Character Design

They're up to no good, I'm sure.
Still messing around with photoshop brushes. Last month I've done some young characters so I thought it would be interesting to follow with some old guys...

Fluffy Baby Camel

And here's the fluffy baby camel: obviously not one of the hot North African deserts, this guy belongs to cold mountains, Mongolia, perhaps.
I've thought it could be interesting to add the original sketch as a comparison base...

And a mermaid...

Character Design_Russian inspiration

So for those ones I was thinking to do another color study as the last ones but I quite liked the worn out marker aspect (the bevel marker I was using at the time had just reached the right point: pity you can't keep it that way for very long).
So I decided to go for a Baskt approach instead ;)

Random color and basic shapes studies.

Here are some little things I've done lately in order to experiment with some new brushes I've found for photoshop. I used as a base some quick doodles with very basic shape variations:

A little Emo princess for a start

This one turns out to have a definite Mary Blair's feeling

While this one is more of a Maxfield Parrish's tribute.

Back to Mary Blair.

And the last one which I kept quite geometric has a color scheme that reminds me strongly of Song of the Sea.
